Village Profile PABA Profile
In 1857, Plover became the first incorporated municipality in Portage County; however was reverted back to town status in 1868 after losing the county seat to Stevens Point. Plover was incorporated again in 1912, but once more reverted to town status in 1931 when economic problems set in. Plover officially became a village on September 28, 1971. The Village of Plover is located along the Wisconsin River and comprises the southern portion of the Stevens Point area.

Plover Area Business Association (PABA) was established in the spring of 1979. The focus behind the idea of PABA was to give Plover Area businesses a better voice in the Stevens Point Chamber of Commerce and Central Wisconsin.
